I just noticed that there is no techy computer forum on here...

There seems to be a fair amount of threads on people looking for tips on getting started with Linux/Mac stuff and there is no designated forum for it..

And what with Vista coming up into the mainstream in'all...

And also what with us folk using komputers in'all...

Wouldn it do any harm in adding one in...

Thoughts?

Ask and you shall receive (some of the time!)

Personally I'm not a fan of those frontends for Vbulletin. I think they actually make it harder to find your way around..

But different strokes for different folks...

A new Google dedicated section could be usefull like:

Google
AdSense
AdWords
.........

There's already an adsense section, so I could put adwords under the online marketing?

And a dedicated section for Google under SEO?

If that proves to be good you can probably move it on its own "Google" group
Hmmm. Maybe, but they're currently positioned under their themes. Do we really want a section for every single service offered by Google? If we do that for Google should we do it for Yahoo and Microsoft?

Look at it on the market place. Everyone talks about it and Google is the first search engines most use.
At the moment the sub-forums are deep inside other forums so is not going to grab much attention. The search for help, share ideas related to Google (adwords, adsense, serps,etc..) is vast so you could make use of it to attract more members.

I know I am new to the forum but why not have a resouce area, which is a datebase of hosting companies, affiliate schemes, and scripts

Would be useful as well as you can benefit from the loyalty of the user base

okay the hosting idea was a bit stupid of me. I didnt mean a spam fest. I meant a directory not a "thread" which was fully controlled by michelle.

How many people using this board who may be new or not have used a service decide to sign up for Google Adwords/Yahoo/Miva for there search services

I dont really see the differnce in promoting an AFF scheme like Allposters instead of having a categorised list where michelle benefits from the sub affiliates, or new advertiser affiliates

Not everyone wants IE IP space but wants to use an IE domain. Your involved in the gambling space, I dont see anything wrong in becoming a sub affiliate for someone else as it has no impact on my overall earnings as an affiliate

Just a thought, I know I am knew to the board and my idea wont make BK tonnes of money but there are plenty of services I still want to try out, play with

was only trying to be supportive

Someone was asking about a resources list / directory before.. I was playing around with plugins for vbulletin, but didn't get very far ...

no worries, I am not that sensitive. And ultimately it comes down to is this site "something which would be beneficial/interesting/fun to do for BK" versus looking at ways for purely a commercial gain.

I am guesstimating (always a dangerous thing) once its not a cost centre and people get involved , thats the purpose.

I was sort of thinking out of loud in a way, as there is project I am doing (non forum/non digg copy) which I am doing out of pure interest and thinking in the long term how I would develop it, so be no intrusive with ads and cover potential costs, but the driver being involvement and something which would be a fun distraction about things I like

OT - I am not hiding from your PM :) would like to speak about our PM, uploading 3TB's + of files on not the best B'band connection so taking me a few days but needs to be done

The latest vbulletin upgrade has hosed a few of the features that I'd enabled.

One of them was the blog / rss link in people's profiles.

Do you want it back?
