Best Forum Software

What would you rate as a good Forum Engine from an admin and managent point of view.
I've used vBulletin but find the back-end a little messy with a lot of complicated options. Am I being a wuss?
Are Simple Machine, PHPBB or IP Board any 'better'?

I'd always opt for Vbulletin.

Yes - some of the options available to you are complicated, but it's very flexible and extendible

I just bought a vb license there, currently on phpbb. Haven't gone live yet, but so far it looks very promising.

This is what I use as well, even on my newest forums.
I've been a vBulletin fan for years

I was a big of Invision Power Services :: Community :: Board :: Home but I don't many people using it these days

I use phpBB 3.0.4 for my forum and I find it very good. It can also be modified to do almost anything vBulletin can do.
