Hi guys,
Has anyone here gone foreign to get some dental work done? I have heard that it's a lot lot cheaper to go Eastern Europe and even to Germany than it is to get work done locally in Ireland.

It is, definitely. Poland has good, well trained dentists and it's very cheap to get dental work done there. A root canal and crown in Dublin, for example, can cost upwards of €2,400 whereas the same in Poland would typically cost about €800.

If you didn't want to travel that far afield, you could always try this guy just over the border in Newry: Cobweb Solutions Ltd

Thanks Ken, have you used him before?
Is that their website? It looks like a parked page for an IT company to me.

'Tis dentistry I'm looking for biy, not backup systems, like!

Just in case anyone thought I was going mad...

I have an image of what I was getting when I visited their site.
They must have some DNS issues or something.

I have contacted two Dentists in Northern Ireland and they quoted:
3,000 Euro and 1,800Strl for an inplant. That's still a bit pricey...

Well, not too pricey but it's about the same as the quote I received from the Dublin Dentist which I went to. I was expecting NI to be a fair bit cheaper. When you add travel and time off work it's probably not worth going to NI.

What are you looking to get done Cormac? My gf is from Slovakia. She needed to get braces done, was getting quoted ridiculous prices over here so got it done at home for a fifth of the price. Now she flies back once every 3 months (cheap flights) to get them checked.

I need to get an inplant put in place where I previously had some root canal work done.

I'm checking on Polish prices at the moment. One of the guys from work lives in Lodz and he is checking prices with his local dentist. Hopefully he speaks fluent English (the dentist).

I wouldnt trust an Irish dentist...
One day they told me I needed my tooth taken out, which I did, when I went to get it done they told me I needed work done on about 4 other teeth, I thought to myself "why didnt they tell me that the last day when they done the scan and told me I needed my tooth out...", so I said no way hosay!
They where trying to get 70 euro out of me multiplied by about 5 or 6 weeks of treatment...350 euro+..... that was over 2 years ago...
They charged me 70 euro for the scan. They kept harassing me with phone calls to come down after me refusing.
So I got my tooth taken out after a scan, over in Wales for 40 sterling, after I was informed my wisdom tooth will grow into the place my bad tooth used to be..which it did.
My teeth are grand to this day.

You wouldn't trust a dentist because of that? I wish I could say the same and for that reason.

I've had a phobia for years about going to the dentist and couldn't cope with my last toothache. Decided to visit a Polish dentist charing 80 Euro for an extraction but she ended up ripping off half my molar along with my gum and refused to continue cause she is was too afraid. Its now costing me a good chunk of money to have it fixed by a specialist and I'm looking at 6+ months recovery time for the gum.

Cormac, good luck at the dentist.

Cormac I got a root canal 3 weeks ago, i'm praying it never goes worng and I end up getting an implant, what went wrong with yours? Did it last long?..... I've to give my "tipperary" dentist €650 for the canal job, a deep clean and 7 fillings....not to bad....

My mate had to get an implant "front tooth" last year after his root canal went wrong, he ended up going up north in the end the whole thing ended up costing him roughly €4000 all in all for the 1 tooth......you have my sympathy....

There's only one way to get cheap dental work in ireland "STUDENT DENTAL COLLEGE".......I'm not sure which hospital is the main dental one in Dublin but it's worth giving them a call.......that's what my local health board recommended to me when I balked at the price of the root canal job.......call your local board, tell them it hurts, you've no medical card, no cash, what can you do....

best of luck......and gods speed....

Yeh that and relations and friends have had similar experiences and all say the same about Irish dentists!
It's a bit ironic that you've had a phobia for years and when you did go something bad happened!!
It's like being in Mrs. Buckets house and trying not to spill tea..its gonna happen!

Hello there,

If you are interested in getting an implant, I can recommend a dental clinic from Poland that is in Gdansk. Good flight connection with Ireland !

You will be able to get high quality Semados implants for around 900 GBP ! This is the full price including the surgery, implant, abutment, temporary crown and the final replacement crown. I highly recommend it to anyone ! Also, qualified staff that speaks good English will take good care of you.

They offer to help with accommodation and transfers as well. I was very pleased with the whole treatment process and the final result, it was really worth it !
Good luck !

If you have any questions, feel free to drop me a line and I'll give you their website. :)

Hi,

Why can't you link to the site in the thread?

Do you have an affiliation with the dentistry in question? I find it a bit strange that your first post on a webmaster forum is about dentistry. Did you come here to talk about webmaster related stuff or did you come here to promote a dentist?

I'm a cynic when it comes to recommendations from people who I don't know with 1 post on any forum but more so on webmaster forums where the content of the topic is non-webmaster related.

I'm sure you'll agree that this scenario is a bit strange.

Basically I'm asking you if you are spamming this forum. Are you?
