Free hosting account for teaching

I'm teaching a class basic web authoring. I'd like to show them how to upload their site to a hosting account and to view it live online.

Where can I get some free space (even temporary), with multiple ftp accounts (as they'll each need their own directory) just to show them how to go about it.

Couldn't you simulate an ftp server and use that for your purposes.
