Unfortunately my first post on the forum is a negative one!
I run 4 websites on Register365, and was very happy with them. It was great to have an Irish company that provided a solid, well priced product, and when there were queries or things went wrong I got very fast resolution.
Recently, I decided to set up a PHPBB on one of the sites. I went into my control panel, went to EasyApps, installed it. All great.
Then, I went back, and found that the EasyApps section was 'dead'. A few headings in there, all the links and icons gone.
I checked another of my sites - same thing. All the EasyApps gone.
I opened a ticket.
36 hrs later I got this:
"All EasyApps were removed as they were out of date and we can not update them due to other applications which also require updates. If you want to use any apps that were in Easy Apps section, you will need to download them off the relevant site for that application and then follow instruction on how to install these."
... and they closed the ticket.
So basically they unilaterally, without any prior notice, removed this set of features from the product. I was amazed. What type of customer service is that?
I asked them about the lack of notice and I got:
"At times we have to remove features from the servers without any notice, due to security risk, overheads of maintenance and so forth."
... ticket closed. End of.
Frankly that's atrocious. Maybe I can get to the same place by manually installing, I've yet to try it. But that's hardly the point.
And what will be the next thing that they remove "without any notice, due to security risk, overheads of maintenance and so forth"??
Currently I have another ticket on another matter open with them for over 24 hours, and nobody appears to have looked at it.
So I'll just have to go through the effort of moving my business elsewhere. It's so disappointing.
