I'm thinking of running a local newspaper campaign. Anyone had any experience running a successful ad campaign?

thanks,
Michael.

I have plenty of experience with dealing with Newspaper campaigns in terms of following media schedules, dealing with production/artwork dept's in local newspapers etc., but unfortunately not with running a full campaign.

If it's more the statistics/advantages/success rates etc. you're looking for info on, you might have better luck posting over on the Creative Ireland website as that forum will have a lot of print designers and advertising/brand managers dealing with local advertising campaigns.

The users here will most likely be more specialised in online advertising.

Hope this helps a bit

Okey dokey, thanks Buttermilk.:)
As you suggested I'm more interested in the copy, success rates, seasonal advertising aspects, and effective campaign lengths if anyone else can chip in.

I'm doing a 10 week ad campaign in my local paper in Meath in the coming weeks. I'll let you know how I get on, i.e. ROI, success rate, etc.

p.s. Got your email today. Will reply to you shortly :D

I manage the offline and online marketing for us

We haven't done much with regional papers, but spend a fortune on print ads :)

Heh - Billboards and ads in Toilets ? not a bad idea..

A good place to put up print ads about techy stuff is billboards in colleges, just walk in with some bluetack and stick one or two up - Students respond very well to Print ads on "their" billboards. If you're bored waiting outside a door, you can't help but notice all those notices about "Buy Flash Drives" ; "join our design team.." etc.

But nowadays, Viral Ads are the way to go..

I tend to take a cynical viewpoint of most ads, - but even i was nearly swayed into getting a Blender after all this viral advertising:

Will It Blend? | Presented By Blendtec

Especially the "Do not try this at home" part...

The very fact that i'm linking to that website proves that viral ads do work :D

Print ads are any ads in print media, such as magazines and newspapers

Billboards et al are outdoor advertising, which is a different medium

Not pushy, but i think it implies your not busy and therefore people will think why not.. I just a personal opinion but I think if your teying to promote your business you shouldnt use a negative word to gain customer interest. Need new customers is a negative slant.
