Analytics provides site traffic (can be estimated or even not complete if the traffic is very high), but also provides a lot more information : conversions for example.
I use both StatCounter and Google Analytics on all my sites. I find both have their uses, but StatCounter is good for giving a quick overview of traffic for your whole network of sites, i.e. the first login screen gives you this info.
