I've installed Typo3 on a personal site I have just for the fun of it and it seems to have gone well. I used the host's Installatron utility ;)

I had to do a bit of figuring out to find the actual login as

http://MYDOMAIN/typo

just pulled up a error of - Error! No pages are found on the rootlevel!

Eventually, by browsing through the folder structure I managed to login using the following path instead.

http://MYDOMAIN/typo/typo3/index.php

Is this normal or have i fecked up? Once I login I can see the nasty interface. Obviously, there are no pages created yet in there.

Thanks

Which directory did you install it into?

It sounds like an issue with the .htaccess, though I could be completely wrong

I installed it into a folder called Typo (hightlighted here).
I have to login by browsing to the Typo3 folder though.

Ok - I think I am getting places. I managed to create a few test pages based on a pre-built Template and its generating the pages ok. Not in the correct directory though.

Anywho - thanks for the feedback. I'll keep playing around with this.

Would be very interested in your experience with this.

Downloaded it a while back but never got time to fire it up.

From the sounds of things it's no Wordpress?

Hi Red C. Just getting back to you now. I haven't really had time to progress with this any further other than getting to know the interface.
I'm looking out for a suitable book. Will shout if/when I find a good one.

It's more for a personal project so I'm taking my time with it. If there are any Typo 3 users out there who offer training, then feel free to shout. Training would be based on installation of a predesigned Template, populating a few pages etc.
