Anyone have any opinions on the new design of this site? I'm liking it, cleaner. but maybe a little bit too much web2.0 though - too much white space?

Yeah I think it's too white, and there isn't enough demarcation.. but what do I know.

I like it. Very similar to the old layout, simply updated for modern displays.

And none of that annoying widget nonsense from BBC - Homepage.
