Weird Apache Errors When Uploading Images

This one is really wrecking my head..

Some of the time - not all of the time - when I try to upload images via Wordpress I get an internal error.
The logs show:

Handler for (null) returned invalid result code 70007

It's not consistent - if I try again it can and does work .. just not all of the time

I don't know if there's something wrong with my settings somewhere ..

Is it Apache? PHP?
Something else?

That's all you're getting? Nothing else anywhere else in the logs?

Any chance it's related to the image size? From this, sounds like it could be a timeout somewhere.
Some other threads have mentioned going through a proxy on the client side as an issue (i.e. worked OK with proxy turned off), but that could just be a timeout thing again.

Or there's one or two suggestions that it's browser or even router specific, but again that could be a symptom of something underlying.

I'd suggest just trying to work out if it's larger file sizes that are the problem, maybe extend the timeout in httpd.conf and see if that sorts it.

The firewall / router thing might be the root cause - I'm going to raise it with one of our sysadmins to see if he has any ideas - thanks
