Dropdown navigation

Hi folks,

I'm trying to create a dropdown navigation element similar to that on the top right of Dublinbynumbers - Dublin's Directory and Guide - gyms, doctors, hotels, creches... . I've used a mixture of javascript, css and tables, but I was wondering if there is a better way to do it? Is it OK to use tables here? Any advice appreciated.

A Tried and tested drop down menu, works on all browsers using pure CSS.

IE5.5 / 6 requires a small bit of a javascript. IE7 does not.

I've been trying to put together a css dropdown navbar on dropdown_test , but getting it to work on IE6 is making my head hurt. Hopefully I'll get there in the end though.

You do know that you need a bit of Javascript for IE6 pure CSS drops downs?

Also I'm not sure if you're allowed have a ul element within an anchor ... (depending on your doc type)

I think I should of read this piece of advice before starting:

"If you want to play with this one, be warned, it is very tricky as you are playing with parallel css files and a dual purpose menu.
I have literally been trying to perfect this method for several months".

I think I might start over again from scratch!

Decided to stick with it and in fact I'd just made a couple of stupid mistakes... voila . A couple more tweaks and that's it, IE6 and all.

Yes, there still appears to be a problem validating the dropdown, still haven't managed to work that out, but I'm working on it. I did however centre the menu, which was a bit wonky. Hope it's OK now.
