Not much use if you can't install it! ... the current Os project i'm doing is on 365 anyways so couldnt have used it if they won't make the changes.

Looks very nice though i must say, will have to find the time to have a play around with it, although my head is half baked from playing with Drupal still! :)

Thanks for the lead though Forbairt, this site is proving to be very very helpful.

Anyone installed it on Blacknight's hosting?

I've actually limited enough asp experience ... something I just never got into ...

What changes were required ..

php_value in the .htaccess wouldn't have taken care of the issues ?

I assume you were running the shops on shared hosting ?

If it's not a personal question but how much do you freelancers charge, roughly, for an e-commerce site? ...

EDIT: just found the relevant thread in the relevant forum.

Just been playing with their online demo, looks really very nice. Another thing to add to my list of things to learn.

Funny I was like the magento website is excellent then a bit of hunting later I discover its a Expression Engine driven site :).

Looks like a good product though, would be good if they migrated Magento and EE. :)

Looks and feels like Expression Engine, even the admin interface seems and feels a bit setup like EE.

ah yea, found the php file. nice one.

Really is a nice system, have you tried to install the Wordpress integrated to Magento module? ... Seems to be some uncertainty about the versions that work.

Okay, I think I'm being a bit thick, nothing new there, but i don't really get tis concept of "multiple websites" in Magento.

The user guide says "One of the most powerful features of Magento is the ability to manage multiple websites and stores from one back-end. This allows store owners to manage stores on different URLs, display the same products in different languages on the same URL, along with a variety of other setups."

Having trouble getting my head around how you'd manage different Sites on different URLs from one installaion ... Are you just forwarding the URL to your Magento Installation, or rather to a section of the Installation ...

Shouldnt have had those pints last night ...

please help!

Speed issues

Have it installed on a decent linux box hosted in the US.
It seems a little slow? Has anybody else experienced a similiar problem? It might be just me, but it takes an age to load initially. Home page

Have not had a play with it yet, but any sites I have visited with it installed are hideously slow and would appear to be a major down side of magento. I am sure this will be resolved with future development and will be one to watch.

I am looking at this for a new project. My current provider doesn't implement mcrypt on shared hosting. There's a ticket open with their CP vendor, but no ETA on a fix.

Is there an Irish hosting provider that supports magento on shared hosting?

Is it a bad idea to put an e-commerce site on shared hosting? I know early offerings of some apps didnt write sessions to the db, which caused security issues. Is VPS or dedicated necessary for a low traffic site?

Magento Hosting

Hi,
Yeap I can install and host for you. You would be looking at €99 ex vat per year. You can see what you get here iWorks Hosting (hope it is ok to post this link).

Unless you are competing on the same level with the likes of Amazon, shared hosting should be fine.

I'm not clued in enough to offer you any Magento support. I can install it, and off you go then.

Regards

Realex Integration into Magento

Too be honest I haven't had too. If one of my clients requires it, I'll build it, and if it is beyond me I'll get a freelancer to do it. A couple of weeks ago I looked into what others where doing on the Magento boards. It has been done. I'd suggest you do a bit of research, and either buy the facility from somebody who has already got it developed or directly from the developer. At a guess I'd say your probably looking at $150 from somebody who has it already developed, which is more than what I would charge.

I'm sure I could do it, but It'll take me a lot of messing, twitching, fixing, and I don't like the idea of messing with systems that will be, or should be, debiting cash from credit cards....
